January 2005 - Unique & Romantic Ways to Enjoy Time with Your Loved One All Year Long

It seems that the month of January is when everyone plays catch up after weeks of holiday celebrations, shopping, out of town visitors, traveling and all the other enjoyable activities that surround the holidays. Many too concentrate on their New Years’ resolutions; going back to the gym, eating healthier, being kinder, spending more time with the family, volunteering, quitting bad habits, just to name a few. How many people have made it a New Years’ resolution to do more romantic things with and for their partner? This month’s column will provide readers with a number of unique and romantic ways to shower your partner with affection the whole year through.

As always, readers are encouraged to take the ideas provided here and personalize them so that they are enjoyable and appropriate for each individual couple.

January
Choose a special date for each month that you and your partner will both remember—choose the date of your anniversary for example. If your anniversary date is June 23, then choose the 23rd of each month. On that date every month, do something extra special for your partner. Leave them a note that they will find when they are getting ready for work or plan a special dinner for that evening. If you have children, get a sitter and make that your date night each month. The idea is to make a day each month that you will do something romantic and unique for your partner.

February
Book an Amorous Adventure™ for a special Valentine’s Day celebration!

March
Enjoy the weather while it is still cool outside. Choose an outdoor activity that you and your partner will enjoy doing together—go for a bike ride, a walk in the park or a picnic on the beach.

April
Pick a hobby that you both enjoy and find a class or workshop that offers that activity. Register both of you for the class and you will get to spend time together and learn more about something you both enjoy.

May
April showers bring May flowers---bring your partner a beautiful bouquet of flowers as a surprise gift!

June
Find a book about a subject matter that you both enjoy----check the book out from the library or purchase it at a bookstore and take turns reading it to each other before you go to sleep. You will find that reading is a nice way to bond and it will give you something more to talk about too!

July
Plan a romantic 4th of July celebration---make a picnic dinner and find a location that you will both enjoy to watch fireworks and spend a romantic evening together.

August
Ask your partner about a local place or activity that they have always wanted to experience. Surprise them by taking them on a day trip to share in this new activity or location.

September
Check out your local paper at the beginning of the month and find an event that is taking place that you and your partner would both enjoy. Plan a special date and incorporate the event as your date activity. If time and money allows, stop for a romantic meal before or after your event.

October
If your partner loves sweets, make them a homemade gift basket of Halloween treats. If sweets are not their favorite, bring home a pumpkin and spend time together while you carve a pumpkin face or your initials, place a candle in the bottom and you have a holiday decoration!

November
In keeping with the holiday festivities, write down a list of all the reasons you are thankful for your sweetie. Give them the list as a token of your appreciation and love.

December
This month tends to be a very busy month with all of the holiday celebrations. Be sure to mark a time on your calendar when you and your partner will spend a few special moments together. Time spent together may have to be shopping for the kids or baking for a holiday party, but no matter what the tasks involved—you will be with your loved one.
